31 Weeks

And, of course....another cute moment between mother and daughter....

What is up with Baby P #2 this week?

  • She is measuring over 16 inches long and weighs about 3 1/3 lbs making her about the size of a coconut and is heading into a growth spurt!

  • She can turn her head from side to side, and her arms, legs, and body are beginning to plump up as needed fat accumulates under her skin.

  • She is probably moving a lot, too, which can make sleeping a bit difficult because her kicks and somersaults may keep me up - which I don't mind because that just means Baby P is active and healthy!

What's been happening with ME this week?

Weight Gained: will give an update in the next post! Since my doc appointment happened at the start of my 32nd week

Workouts: workout? What's that?

Symptoms:

  • Major drooling. Yup. Gross but true. I didn't realize it was pregnancy related but I noticed the drooling for about the last month or so? I don't usually drool but it never dawned on me that it could be pregnancy related until I saw some article about pregnancy symptoms pop up on my FB newsfeed. But yeah... makes sense. Extra saliva = drooling problems. Go figure.

  • Aches and pains. All over.

  • Pregnancy brain. It's real yo!

  • Cankles. Swollen because of the heat.

  • Frequent trips to the restroom.

  • Extreme fatigue.

Food Aversions: none

Food Cravings:

  • Nacho Cheese Doritos w/sour cream

  • Fried chicken. Like country fried yumminess.

Sleep: still pretty good. Even with the bathroom trips, I'm able to go right back to sleep.

Any Baby/Pregnancy-Related Purchases? we ordered our maternity photos! Gotta say... our toddler stole the show. As far as baby stuff... will be making purchases in the weeks to come. She'll be here before we know it... we need to buy some things before that happens.

Stretch Marks: still no new ones.

Miss Anything?: just being able to get in and out of bed with ease!!! Ohhhh the simple things in life we take for granted.

Belly Button In or Out? I think after this pregnancy, it may never go back in 😂

Wedding Rings On or Off? It came off for a couple of days because the heat just made my fingers swell. But they're back on!

Happy or Moody Most Of The Time? I would say it was an emotional one. Just a few issues that I can thank my raging hormones for sure. There were some tears shed. Some moments of emotional outbursts. And then even some sadness. I won't go into detail about the chain of events that led to this emotional rollercoaster ride but I think it's something that started off very early on in this pregnancy that I just tried to push to the back of my mind. And then I think the anxiety of my fast approaching due date triggered something that just sent me into a state of emotional instability... it wasn't pretty. But I'm good now.

Any Movement? Yes! Non-stop! She's definitely running out of room!

Fun and/or Interesting Things from the Week? Probably the only fun thing this week was getting to see the digital gallery of our maternity shoot and picking out our favorites! I'm looking forward to getting them in the mail so I can put them out on display!

Looking Forward To? Going shopping for this baby of mine. Even though we have a lot of things from Ella, there's still some things we need for our #2. Some people might think we don't need more stuff but I beg to differ. So I'm excited to go on a little shopping spree for this little princess.

Holy cow!!! It's sooooo freaking crazy how quickly time has whizzed by. The next 10 weeks will go by even quicker, I just know it. I will be going on maternity leave at the end of August and then Baby P #2 may make her appearance as early as 2 weeks after that. Her sister definitely didn't wait till 40 weeks to come, that's for sure. It's exciting, no doubt... but I'm definitely starting to feel nervous about it all.

On to my weekly update....

30 Weeks

What is up with Baby P #2 this week?

  • Baby P is about 15.7 inches long and weighs almost 3 lbs - about the size of a large cabbage!

  • She is surrounded by a pint and a half of amniotic fluid, but will lessen as she gets bigger and takes up more space in my uterus.

  • Her eyesight is continuing to develop, though it's not very keen. Her eyes will be closed for a good part of the day after she is born.

  • When she does open them, she'll respond to changes in light but will have 20/400 vision - which means she can only make out objects a few inches from her face.

What's been happening with ME this week?

Weight Gained: I will let you know after I've had my next appointment which is set for Wednesday, August 2nd!

Workouts: Of course! Every single day at work. Some people don't think my job is physical, but it really is. This is what I do on the daily:

  • some strength training - lifting and moving mannequins, fixtures, and other visual elements at work. And don't worry, I'm very careful with it all!

  • cardio - walking up and down stairs, walking back and forth between 2 buildings (I work at a location that has 2 buildings in 1 mall). Consistently for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week.

Anything else outside of work is just "extra". And no I haven't done "extra" workouts in a hot minute.

Symptoms:

  • Slight nausea

  • Swelling in the feet

  • Mild heartburn and yucky tasting burps!

  • The worst leg cramp ever happened the night going into my 31st week! So painful!

Food Aversions: fast food

Food Cravings: donuts

Sleep: I don't have any trouble falling asleep... but it really is starting to get very uncomfortable moving in bed especially when I want to roll over. And it's difficult getting out of bed!

Any Baby/Pregnancy-Related Purchases? No baby stuff yet but totally related! I bought an ottoman pouf to go with a rocker my father-in-law gave me after I had Ella. I'm planning on painting it white over the weekend and I still need to buy a 2-piece cushion for it. So I'll post up some pics of it once I'm done. I won't get the pouf until next week but here's what it looks like...

And I finally did our registry! My sister is in the process of designing my Baby Sprinkle invites so I needed to make sure I finished registering before the invites went out.

Stretch Marks: I think there's some about to appear... it's been itching just under the belly button. I've been lathering up like crazy!!!

Miss Anything?: just about everything that has to do with not being pregnant!

Belly Button In or Out? Out

Wedding Rings On or Off? On!

Happy or Moody Most Of The Time? Happy as can be.

Any Movement? Heck yes! She doesn't stop. Ever!

Fun and/or Interesting Things from the Week? not a one. I've been pretty boring this week. Just enjoying every minute of free time I get with my only child till life gets even more chaotic!

Looking Forward To? The weekend! I want to continue nesting... cleaning and organizing. And I'm hoping to be able to paint my rocking chair!!!

29 Weeks

See? I clean up real nice when I put forth the effort 😂. A lot of my previous pics have been taken just before bedtime because I always forget to take them. Which explains the no make-up or the 'messy hair don't care' look.

And for a bonus this week, here's a blooper shot 🤣...

What is up with Baby P #2 this week?

  • Baby P #2 is the size of an acorn squash, measuring 15.2 inches long and weighing about 2.5 lbs and is expected to double, almost tripling her weight in the next 11 weeks.

  • As more fat is deposited under skin, her wrinkled skin is smoothing out. This white fat is is different from the earlier brown fat she accumulated as a fetus. Brown fat is necessary for body temperature regulation while white fat serves as an energy source.

  • Also, her muscles and lungs are continuing to mature and her head is growing bigger to make from for her developing brain

  • To keep up with her increasing nutritional demands, I will need plenty of protein, vitamin C, folic acid, and iron.

What's been happening with ME this week?

Weight Gained: your guess is as good as mine! Not even caring about that number at this point.

Workouts: my job is my workout. Seriously.

Symptoms:

  • dizziness and lightheadedness - felt like I was gonna pass out on Thursday night after working all day and then shopping till the mall closed

  • headaches

  • Leg cramps - happens when I'm trying to roll over in bed

  • The weight of my belly is making my balance all out of whack. I got on the escalator at work and almost fell backwards with the very little movement it made going up

Food Aversions: I don't think there were any this week.

Food Cravings:

  • Carne asada burrito

  • Crab legs

  • Pancakes drenched with syrup

Sleep: not a lot of it, but hey, I'm still functioning. Being a working mom of a 2 year old doesn't give me the luxury of going to bed early or sleeping in till at least 7. I'm looking forward to going on maternity leave so I can get some rest.

Any Baby/Pregnancy-Related Purchases? None yet. Been busy nesting and getting the home ready for Baby #2. Decluttering, rearranging furniture and rooms, spring cleaning... once I'm on LOA, I need to do baby's laundry. So much to do!

Stretch Marks: nope.

Miss Anything?: simple things like being able to get up from sitting position without moaning and groaning. Or being able to bend over to pick things up off the floor without feeling like I'm gonna fall over. The belly is ginormous!

Belly Button In or Out? It's been out.

Wedding Rings On or Off? Still on!!!

Happy or Moody Most Of The Time? Happy! Considering the heat and lack of sleep, I think I'm doing just fine.

Any Movement? Yes and they are starting to really hurt! Some tickle. But as she runs out room, her jabs and kicks are just hard.

Fun and/or Interesting Things from the Week? We had our maternity session on Friday the 14th out in San Dimas. Same photographer we've used in the past. Totally new location for us. We won't see the proofs for at least a week, which is fine, I'm in no hurry to order prints just yet. But we had a good time. I was hoping to get some behind the scenes pics of the session but things were different this time around with a toddler to chase down in between shots.

Here is my monster before we left for the shoot...

Here she is towards the end of the shoot... "patiently" waiting for mom to finish getting in some solo shots to end the session. Monster was already over the whole thing... she even stripped the bow out of her hair.

And then here is my monster waiting for her dinner at The Melt.

It was a pretty eventful day for all of us. Fun but exhausting!

Looking Forward To? Seeing the digital proofs of our photos! Can't wait to share those with you as well!
